The Favaios Winery mission includes the development of the consumption growth of the Moscatel de Favaios.
Quinta do Vallado, built in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous Douro Valley farms. It belonged to the legendary Dona Antonia Adelaide Ferreira and remains today in the possession of her descendants. It is located in the margins of the Corgo River, a tributary of the Douro River, near the town of Peso da Régua.
For about 200 years, Quinta do Vallado’s main activity was the production of Port wines, later marketed by Casa Ferreira (which belonged to the Family). With the centuries-old tradition of selling its production to Ferreira, it was in 1993 that the company decided to extend its activity to the production, bottling and marketing of private label wines. Quinta do Vallado now has over 70 ha of Régua-weighted vines and 30ha of certified organic vines recently planted at Quinta do Orgal in the Douro Superior. The bet on wine tourism was decided at the beginning of this century, and is today a strategic activity and of great relevance to Quinta do Vallado. Two small hotels were built – one at Quinta do Vallado (Peso da Régua) and one at Quinta do Orgal (Vila Nova de Foz Côa), and daily visits and tastings are organized for a large number of visitors.
