Collaborative Network

Living Vineyards is first and foremost a collective endeavor. Its mission is to empower winegrowers worldwide to become leaders in ecosystem restoration. Through collaboration, innovation and education, we will prioritize ecological integrity to enhance biodiversity and soil health whilst producing exceptional wines.

This group counts with 40 companies from 14 countries, representing amyriad of wine regions as well as company profiles: from catena zapata to Vini Ragera, from Paul Cluver to Herdade dos Grous, from Jackson Family Wines to Raimat, among many others,

101 Climate solutions for wine is being crafted as a comprehensive collection of solutions from and to the wine community

This compilation, co-authored by members, aims to cover from simple to innovative best practices, from governance, to water management, to circularity and packaging, among other categories.

 These solutions will be available in detail in our solutions platform and its summary will be in the final piece/document, that will be launched in a media event in months to come (Estimated for November).

Climate Talks by Porto Protocol are a series of digital dialogues on matters relevant to the wine world in a changing climate.

From sustainable packaging to the role of nature and technology in building a climate response, different topics have been debated at our virtual roundtable with speakers from different corners of the world, that share their expertise, experience and challenges, thus inspiring those who listen to act further.

This solutions Explorer is at the core of what we do: to build an open and dynamic platform of climate solutions. From our community and beyond, here you’ll find best practices, case-studies, innovations, webinars, conference presentations, articles and reports. As a whole, we provide a myriad of strategies and actions to adapt and/or mitigate the effects of climate change along the wine value chain.

Best practices and solutions shared by members of our community are (peer) reviewed by our Expert Panel according to a Review Protocol.

5 Months, 9 sessions, 23 trainers and guest speakers, 36 participants from all over the wine world representing the whole value chain. It was with this unique combination of people, knowledge and diversity that we delivered an immersion into the carbon cycle of wine from soil to sip proactive carbon management.

Porto Protocol partnered with 5 Portuguese wine regions (Bairrada, Beira Interior, Dão, Lisboa, Tejo) to understand the status and steps forward to pave the way towards sustainable development. It was a unique journey, collaborative and “bottom-up” that resulted in a “multiregional sustainability assessment”, that we invite you to read (in Portuguese).

CLIMATE CHANGE LEADERSHIP – SOLUTIONS FOR THE WINE INDUSTRY
-Summit-

The Climate Change Leadership Porto Summit 2018 and 2019 had Barack Obama and Al Gore as keynote Speakers, respectively.

They were a unique convergence of expertise, wisdom and inspiration, that brought together some of the world’s leading scientists and authorities on climate change and the environment.

The Porto Protocol Foundation is a key outcome of these summits, an undertaking by all participants to adopt and promote the principles and measures established at the conferences.
