GIE les 9
Climate change is part of our daily lives. Adapting to preserve our land, our wines, and ensure the long-term viability of our vineyards is not optional.
After several decades of informal exchanges between its members, the GIE Les 9 was formed in 2014 by the “premiers crus classés” of Bordeaux (producing red wines on both sides of Gironde, as well as a château producing a sweet wine) to formalize and simplify the pooling of human and financial resources for viticulture and oenology projects aimed at improving techniques and knowledge. Various themes have been addressed over the years, and climate change is now a significant concern. Exchanges and projects on this topic of interest focus on international literature reviews, improving understanding of the impacts of climate change on vines and wine, and developing short- and long-term solutions. Advances in this area will benefit not only the members of the GIE but also the entire wine industry.
