New York Wine & Grape Foundation and The Porto Protocol Foundation Collaborate to Host Panel series at Climate Week NYC

To highlight and find solutions to major sustainability issues in the global wine industry, The Porto Protocol Foundation and the New York Wine & Grape Foundation are hosting a series of four panel discussions focused on packaging, biodiversity, water, and the sustainable future of the industry.

With the launch of the New York Sustainable Winegrowing program, the New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is working to develop a local wine industry that is environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable for future generations. The Porto Protocol Foundation’s leadership in international collaboration on sustainable wine issues highlights the global impact of the climate crisis and the importance of cooperation in finding solutions. Together, the two organizations demonstrate the need for locally tailored solutions and international unity in facing an uncertain future.

That is why NYWGF, and The Porto Protocol Foundation are excited to announce their partnership in hosting four panel discussions as a part of Climate Week NYC 2023. Climate Week NYC is the largest annual climate event of its kind, bringing together some 400 events and activities across the City of New York making it the perfect occasion to spotlight the wine industry’s place in a climatically uncertain future.

Two talks will be held in person in NYC accompanied by tastings of wines leading the way in sustainable production. The other two will be hosted over zoom. Attendance is free and on a first come first served basis. You can sign up by following this link:

It is always exciting to bring together leaders in this field from around the globe” says Justin Jackson, Sustainability Program Manager at the NYWGF. “Not only will this lead to internal industry dialog, but a wider conversation with the general wine drinking population about what wine can do to preserve the future.”

We believe that together, in the wine industry, we have the massive capacity to change the way agriculture is thought about and start creating a positive virtuous circle.” says Adrian Bridge, CEO and Mentor at The Porto Protocol Foundation. “This participation in NY Climate Week is a great opportunity to show how we’re doing that, leading climate action by bringing the wine value chain together, sharing solutions and working collaboratively.

We invite you to join us at all four panels and be part of the discussion on the future of the wine industry.
