The LETG laboratory was set up by the CNRS in 1996 to bring together geographical research carried out at different university sites in north-west France (Nantes, Rennes and Brest). Its scientific field is environmental geography. Thanks to its expertise in human geography, physical geography and geomatics, LETG’s scientific programme aims to contribute to our knowledge of the interactions between nature and society through a modelling and integration approach at the geographical interfaces between land, sea and atmosphere.
The laboratory’s scientific programme focuses on 3 axes: (1) Coastal (2) Continental Environments (3) Remote Sensing and Geomatics.
Study on the adaptation of agro-systems to climate change is at the heart of the ‘Continental Environments’ unit of the UMR LETG. The work is based on setting up monitoring systems (in situ and satellite data) to define indicators for analysing environmental and landscape dynamics and proposing adaptation measures. The main objective is to integrate local climate variability into climate change scenarios using a systemic, multi-model and multi-scale approach (from global to local) in order to develop scenarios for the adaptation of agro-systems to climate change at the local scale. This approach is being applied specifically to viticulture, with climate change adaptation strategies being implemented at vineyard scale.
