At Emidio Pepe, our family has been farming and winemaking in Abruzzo since 1964 – respecting artisanal and traditional methods. Our 18-hectare estate is home to Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, and Pecorino, all cultivated with organic and biodynamic principles.
We believe that healthy, living soils are the foundation of great wines. By fostering biodiversity—through cover crops, composting, agroforestry and biodynamic preparations—we create a self-sustaining environment where vines thrive without much external intervention. This balance enhances the resilience of our vineyards and the purity of our grapes.
Our winemaking remains entirely artisanal. We tread white grapes by foot, hand-destem red grapes, and allow fermentation to occur naturally with indigenous yeasts. We never filter or clarify, ensuring that each wine fully expresses our land’s character and the specifics of each season.
A cornerstone of our philosophy is aging. We carefully store a portion of every vintage, releasing bottles only when we feel they have reached their peak. This patience has redefined Abruzzo wines, proving they can evolve with remarkable complexity over decades.
By respecting nature and embracing biodynamic farming, we create wines that are not only a reflection of our terroir but also a testament to the vitality of our land. Each bottle carries the energy of our soils, the diversity of our vineyards, and the legacy of our family’s dedication to sustainable, living wines.
