Catherine Cruchon-Griggs grew up in Echichens, in the canton of Vaud, at the heart of the Swiss wine region of La Côte. From the age of eight, she spent her autumn holidays at the family estate, helping her father Raoul during the harvest. She went on to earn her degree as an oenological engineer from the Haute École de Changins. She then broadened her training through internships in the United States, South Africa, Burgundy and Argentina — formative experiences that shaped her vision of wine and terroir.
In 2010, she officially joined Domaine Henri Cruchon, founded by her grandfather in 1976 and a pioneer of biodynamic farming in Switzerland since 1999. She became the driving force of the third generation, supported by her cousins Laura and Yaëlle. In January 2023, Raoul and Michel Cruchon officially handed the estate over to this third generation.
For Catherine, biodynamic viticulture is above all a pursuit of balance between the vine, nature and terroir — an approach aimed at creating an emotional experience in every glass.
Committed beyond her own estate, Catherine launched and chairs the BottleBack project in Switzerland, an initiative supported by the Porto Protocol with the goal of establishing a nationwide circular glass supply chain — a concrete step toward reducing the environmental footprint of the Swiss wine industry.
