Tarlant is a grower Champagne estate rooted in the Marne Valley, where the Tarlant family has farmed its own vines continuously since 1687. I’m Mélanie Tarlant, and together with my brother Benoît, as the twelfth generation, we tend over fifteen hectares across sixty parcels, each carrying its own soil character and microclimate.
We farm all our own parcels under certified organic agriculture with Ecocert, but beyond that we follow a regenerative viticulture. We minimize soil disturbance to preserve its structure, and we establish carefully selected cover crops to encourage microbial life and its the soil’s ability to hold water through dry seasons.
On some parcels, I also practice vitipastoralism, allowing geese to roam freely and contribute naturally to vineyard maintenance and soil life. Geese are vineyard workers and conservation partners too.
In the cellar, we continue this same search for precision. Each parcel is vinified separately, we work with all seven Champagne grape varieties, and we rely on long lees ageing. All our wines are zero dosage, because we consider time as our only dosage.
